Take Back Day 2026

Saturday, April 25th

Some things are hard to take back. Thankfully, unused and expired prescriptions aren't one of those things. The DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a nationwide event held twice a year that gives communities a safe, convenient way to dispose of unneeded prescriptions—no questions asked. By clearing out medicine cabinets and dropping off unused or expired prescription pills at designated collection sites, we can help prevent misuse, reduce the risk of overdose, and keep our families safer. To help you spread the word and make participation easy, we’ve created the toolkit below.

This “plug-and-play” toolkit includes:

  • Social media content (including text, graphics, and videos) to promote Take Back Day and share resources for safe drug disposal
  • Educational materials to increase understanding of safe drug disposal and the risks of access to prescription opioids
  • Promotional assets to raise awareness of Take Back Day date and locations

Designed as a one-stop shop for Just Plain Killers’ partner organizations, these materials make it easy to spread the word. Please share with your audiences across social media channels and beyond. Download the files below to get started.
